VANCOUVER-The Vancouver Whitecaps have fired esports player agitpower Katilmis for telling an online opponent to commit self-destruction.
The Whitecaps, who announced the signing of Katilmis on June 14, stated that their EMLs contract had been terminated with immediate effect.”
“The seriousness of the matter cannot be overestimated and the club strongly condemns these comments,” the team said in a statement of a paragraph, citing “inappropriate and unprofessional comments” during a recent online match.
The Whitecaps have not provided further details, but a clip of the incident was posted on Twitter on Monday.
Katilmis, angry at the opponent TNick1310 for some reason, is shown with the words: “you should finish yourself.”
“Get on the bridge, brother, and jump,” he added.
Turning to social media, Katilmis apologized “to the entire FIFA community and especially to all those who are action against mental health.
“I am determined to prevent this from happening and immediately applied for an anger management program,” he added. “I promise I will take my responsibilities seriously and be a better person.”
Katilmis said he apologized to his opponent and made a donation of to the Canadian Association for self-destruction Prevention by attaching an official receipt as proof.
He explained that the amount represented his salary and all the donations he had received for the month.
“My behavior was bad and I hope you can forgive me,” Concluded Katilmis.
The dismissal came just three weeks after 20-year-old Katilmis finished second in the North American playoffs of the EA Sports FIFA 21 Global Series for PlayStation behind Mohamed (KingCJ0) Alioune Diop of D.C. United.
Both players had already qualified for the FIFA World Cup scheduled for August. 6-8 in London. Katilmis, Laval, Qc., collected as a finalist of the North American tournament.
Katilmis, the best Canadian player and fourth best PlayStation player in North America, was one of the Whitecaps’ three esports players, along with Alex (Exraa) Gonzalez and Erfan (Skill Shack) Hosseini.
Together with Inter Miami midfielder Jay Chapman, katilmis represented Canada at the first FIFA eNations #StayAndPlay Cup organized by EA Sports.
